Medical Oxygen for Special and Military Projects
NOVAIR supports defense, civil protection, maritime, and humanitarian response stakeholders with autonomous medical oxygen production solutions designed for extreme or isolated environments. Built to be robust, mobile, and compliant with the most stringent regulatory requirements, our systems ensure autonomy, performance, and safety in all critical situations.
Meet the specific requirements of sensitive operations
Guarantee autonomy in isolated environments
No longer depending on the deliveries of bottles or liquid gas avoids failures or delays in supply. On-site production guarantees a constant supply of oxygen, essential for surgery, resuscitation and intensive care.
Quickly deploy an operational solution
NOVAIR systems are available in containerized, mobile, or integrated versions. They are designed for quick deployment and immediate commissioning, without dependency on a fixed infrastructure.
Ensure safety, compliance and reliability
NOVAIR’s ISO 13485 certification and the MDR/MDD compliance of its medical devices provide an essential guarantee of quality and safety for military organizations, ensuring equipment that meets the strictest requirements in terms of reliability, traceability, and risk management.

Solutions adapted to all operational environments
Each mission comes with its own set of constraints. That is why NOVAIR solutions are designed to adapt to all environments, whether military bases, crisis zones, vessels, mobile camps, or temporary infrastructures. Leveraging our expertise across the entire medical gas chain, we deliver robust, autonomous systems that comply with the most demanding operational requirements.
The example of a medical oxygen production unit for NATOÂ
NOVAIR has been selected by NATO to design, deploy, and commission a self-contained oxygen production unit in 20-foot ISO containers.
These containers incorporate generators based on patented PSA technology. They meet the high requirements of military/special missions and guarantee reliable, secure, and immediately available oxygen production, without any dependence on or logistical constraints.
Production of high-purity medical oxygen directly from ambient air, with a capacity to supply up to 80 hospital beds. Designed as a self-contained field hospital unit, it incorporates its own generator and battery packs, ensuring continuity of oxygen supply even without connection to the power grid.
Remote monitoring and control ensure maximum reliability and simplified operational management. Low-pressure operation, using ambient air, guarantees increased safety for patients and operators.
Eliminating the road transport of cylinders or liquid oxygen significantly reduces the environmental footprint.
Other examples of installations
NOVAIR medical oxygen production units equipped the Tonnerre and Mistral vessels during the COVID-19 crisis
NOVAIR supported Naval Group in the integration of two complete medical oxygen production skids for the French Navy. Installed on the helicopter carriers Tonnerre and Mistral, these autonomous systems combine medical oxygen production and high-pressure cylinder filling to ensure full autonomy. Their purpose was to equip the vessels with oxygen supply capabilities to support onshore facilities at risk of shortages during the COVID-19 crisis.
- Two complete skids medical oxygen production systems incorporating PREMIUM medical oxygen generators
- Production and treatment of compressed air and associated equipment for continuous and safe operation.
- HP oxygen cylinder filling systems, ensuring operational autonomy for onboard and shore-based teams.
Medical oxygen for hospitals in crisis areas
In response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, NOVAIR mobilized to address the critical shortage of medical oxygen in hospitals. Teams rapidly prepared and shipped several oxygen generators, including a complete production line to the municipal hospital of Itchnia, in the Chernihiv region. Designed to operate in full autonomy, these solutions enable equipped facilities to produce medical-grade oxygen that meets international standards.
- Oxygen production by PREMIUM 95% oxygen generator ensuring continuous supply.
- Coordinated intervention with the CDCS, continuing the missions already carried out by NOVAIR in India, Tunisia, and other under-equipped countries.
- Proven expertise since the pandemic, which has accelerated the development of autonomous solutions and increased global demand for generators.
Autonomous production of medical oxygen on board a cruise ship
The polar exploration vessel Le Commandant Charcot, operated by PONANT, has been equipped with a NOVAIR solution to ensure on-board medical oxygen production. This technological choice represents a world first on a cruise ship and meets the specific requirements of missions in extreme environments. Sailing in remote and hard-to-access areas, the vessel needed to overcome the constraints associated with cylinder supply. NOVAIR designed and integrated a complete, compact installation compliant with maritime standards, ensuring continuous and safe oxygen production.
- Onboard medical oxygen generator that continuously produces oxygen from ambient air, featuring a compact and robust design suited to maritime conditions.
- Integrated cylinder filling system that creates a buffer stock, ensures continuity of supply for the onboard hospital, and eliminates any dependence on port deliveries during long-term expeditions.
