Ionic technology: the oxygen of the future
Our atmosphere is mainly composed of nitrogen (78%), oxygen (21%), and argon (1%). It is an almost inexhaustible source of free oxygen. Thanks to a new-generation ceramic membrane, ION converts molecular oxygen into ionized oxygen atoms through an electrochemical process. Upon contact with the membrane, the atoms are immediately attracted to the front face of a solid ceramic crystal that is able to accept only oxygen ions. A small applied direct voltage (less than 1 volt) ionizes the oxygen molecules and forces the ions to migrate through the ceramic crystal. They then emerge at the rear of the ceramic membrane and are immediately recombined into oxygen molecules.
